G-Fan #81

G-FAN #81 Summary
by Armand Vaquer

G-FAN #81 is now arriving at comic & specialty stores and subscribers' mailboxes around the world. Here is what the Fall issue contains for your reading enjoyment:

The issue begins with news in the world of kaiju including Godzilla in 3-D, Titanosaurus news, a new pulp e-zine and news on the passing of actor Jerry Ito.

Daisuke Ishizuka reports on Koichi Kawakita's new G-project, Pachislot, a blend of pachinko and and slot machines.

G-Mail returns with more readers' comments.

Brett Homenick strikes again with several interviews including Adryan Russ (who co-wrote and sang "Save The Earth" for "Godzilla vs. Hedorah"); actor Don Frye; actor George Touliatos; visual effects designer/supervisor Michael Lennick; actor Jonathan Legg; and actress Luciana Paluzzi.

Ken Brockelmann will not endear himself to Godzilla as he points out the Big G's "Most Embarassing Moments."

Project manager Keewhan Her for "Godzilla Unleashed" has granted a G-FAN interview on the new game and supplied some visuals for your enjoyment.

Don Jolly recounts "Growing Up With G-FAN."

Corrine Orr has a convention experience that she penned in "Anime North Report."

Mark Justice has an article on "Shinto Symbolism in Toho's Daikaiju Eiga."

A lesson in some Japanese is presented by Mike Field in "What is the meaning of "Kaiju"?"

22 friends sent pictorial greetings to G-FAN and they are presented as a centerfold layout for you to see.

"Up From The Depths: Terrifying Tales of Real Life Kaiju" is presented to terrify you by John LeMay.

Mike Bogue recounts "The Alternative Monsterverse of a Sixties Kaiju Kid."

I jumped into the interview game as I interviewed Japanese science-fiction historian August Ragone about his new book, "Eiji Tsuburaya: Master of Monsters." Also, a review by yours truly on the book is included.

"Ozora No Samurai" ("Samurai Of The Sky") has been released on DVD and a promotional event was covered by Daisuke Ishizuka.

Jerry Ito is gone, but he is not forgotten by August Ragone, who has written a two-page tribute to the villain of "Mothra."

David McRobie's "The Globe Meter" returns with some reflections on different subjects.

J.D. Lees and I teamed up for a report on this year's G-FEST XIV.

Don Glut is honored with the "Mangled Skyscraper" award and an article on Don is presented.

Paul Gavins presents an article on the ever-growing G-FEST costume parade.

Steve Agin again presents what's new in the world of kaiju toys in "All Monster Toys Attack."

John Rozum reviews the monster movie, "The Host."

All the above and more are in G-FAN #81. So if you aren't a subscriber, go out and snag yourself a copy at your favorite shop. To subscribe, go to http://www.g-fan.com/. That's it until the Winter issue (#82).
